Hi

Anyone know what sort of preload to put on a standard actuator on a 94 WRX?

When I took my old actuator off someone had set it too long and the wastegate was actually held open, this was causing my exhaust to sound like it was blowing which was really annoying coz I re-done the downpipe to turbo join a couple of times coz it sounded like it was blowing but it was obviously the sound of the gasses blowing through the open wastegate at idle

Most I have seen need just a slight tug on the actuator rod to get it onto the wastegate flap. It isnt just quite a slide on, so it is only just held shut, but there is tension on it.

Mine is 1.2 bar now and staying there. Using 50-70% 3 port duty cycle and it is nice and smooth.

Thumbs up

That sure is a 'cracking' pressure harvey

Have you considered the merits of a 3/2 ie a 5 port hybrid solenoid for earlier spool up but still holding good top end boost ?
