Downpipe
#2
Hi,
HKS downpipe is pretty good, but it is closed neck.
For the same money you could have a Jap Innovations system which is open neck and flows better IMHO.
Scoobymania, TSL and Scoobysport also do their own dps all of which are very good.

Hi
I fitted the HKS downpipe to my car with a HKS Hiper system.
The exhaust housing on the turbo on my car (and I'm guessing yours) is an open design about 4 1/2"x3" and the HKS downpipe has a plate that covers this with just a 3" outlet where the bore of the downpipe begins. (sorry if u know this)
There are open neck & twin dump downpipes available also, which you may be aware of which probably give better gas flow than the HKS, but the price was what swung it for me and also I heard a lot about 'boost spiking' and I would think with it's design the HKS offers better protection against this.
It's gonna be better than the original and the performance difference between HKS and any other downpipe is going to be quite small IMO so I'd say it's a safe bet and you know the fit will be spot on as it'll match your system.

I've got a Jap Innovations downpipe = fast spool up, and you can get a dawes device to control the boost - I have no problem with overboost etc.
