On my 99MY it was (is!) the forked end of the master cylinder pushrod moving sideways on the pedal arm - as simple as that! Almost the same as Alans above. The occasional blob of grease to cushion it does the trick until I can be bothered to stop the movement with a washer. Try it, it might just be the same on yours.

Question

as the title suggests. a clicking noise has just started coming from the clutch pedal as you depress it.
it seems like it has a notchy feel near the bite.
has anyone had problems with anything like this or is it nothing at all.
its going in for service soon or should i take it in early?
cheers

Sounds like clutch master cylinder seals especially with the notchey bit, A tale tale sign is to look under the bulkhead at the clutch pedal rod where it enters a rubber seal for damp / drips of clutch fluid.

Strange, I though this was my thread from a few weeks back, revived. Turns out we have the same problem! I can feel the clicking and hear it when my foot presses the clutch. I didn't find any answers but I suggest we share what we learn

Mine did this too and was told that a new 'pedal box' may be needed (worst case scenario)

Strangely a new clutch and gearbox cured it

Sipie's gearbox wasn't caused by the clutch problem....it was caused by him being a cruel git to the thing

The rod for the master cylinder fits on to the clutch pedal by means of a pin with a retaining clip ( an "R" type clip )

When i adjusted the clutch pedal after a clutch change, I experienced something similar to what you are describing. Turned out to be the "R" clip hitting off the pedal box near the end of the stroke when you lift off the pedal.

Worth a look to see if the retaining pin has managed to turn round in it's location.
