Magnex vs Scoobysport Downpipe
#1
Thanks for the info Pete
BTW I had a look on your website but your exhaust section is being updated. How much does the Scoobysport D/P cost?
Edited to ask of what design is the Scoobysport, open neck or twin dump?
Thanks
Gavin

I had a full Magnex system on my MY99.
Mate had a full SS on his MY00(then made by Hayward and Scott)
Same mods, same RR day - same bhp/torque figures give or take.
But the Magnex full system cost me quite a bit less than if I'd gone for the SS one
Edit to add: not that I'm knocking SS coz thats good too, as I now have a SS BB on mine for a bit more noise

The new downpipes are a very similar shape to the design Scoobysport created in 1998, but are now CNC bent for perfect fit and are welded to the highest possible standards.

Gavin,
Yep the magnex DP and centre (no resonator) are still on with the SS BB. Got my DP for 168 quid fitted at Ripspeed/Halfords.
(yes I know, but suprised me by doing a top notch job )

Cheers Neil,
Will drop them an email and see how much they are charging. However I priced one with www.hyperformancedirect.co.uk and they wanted £238 incl. P+P to a friends address in N. Ireland so maybe Demon Tweeks aren't that bad after all?
As for Halfords/Ripspeed, I'm afraid we don't have them over here
The one thing I've learned since I got my scoob is that bits like exhausts and other tuning parts aren't readily available over here and most have to be sourced from across the water (thank god for Visa ) Usually anyone who does sell them over here are looking for crazy prices.

I have a Magnex BB and centre on my MY98 and was thinking if fitting the Magnex D/P. Would this be the best option in terms of compatibility with my Magnex centre or are there better options of D/P for the same money as a Magnex, such as Scoobysport which I hear comes highly recommended. Will a Scoobysport D/P mate OK to my Magnex centre?
Who makes the Scoobysport D/P? Is it Hayward and Scott?
Thanks in advance

Both will fit, as they are both designed to be interchangeable with the existing downpipe.
Scoobysport downpipes are made by Janspeed and only available from Scoobysport.

Gavin - just thought I'd clarify here as it's all a little confusing at the moment!
When people refer (historically) to the 'Scoobysport downpipe', this is the one now badged 'Hayward and Scott'. The 'current' (nearly ) Scoobysport downpipe will be different, to some point or other... a bit of an unknown at the moment! Doubtless it will be excellent, but it possibly/probably isn't the one you've heard about.
Very confoosing

Thats why I was asking Pete. I know that Scoobysport are currently changing their exhaust line up so their exhausts will be manuafctured by Janspeed. I knew that Hayward & Scott manufactured exhausts for them previously.
Are Scoobyworld now selling Hayward & Scott exhausts instead of Scoobysport?

New downpipes are coming in every day this week, but we have over 30 current orders to get out first.
I would think we can get one to you for mid/late next week.
Price is unchanged at £190+vat.

Sorry about the picture sizes, they were only 64k and I thought they would be smaller.
At least you can see why we are so pleased with the quality of the TIG welding.

Thanks guys for the info. Now all I have to do is decide on which one! My problem is that as I live in Ireland I have to worry about P+P, and then convert your nice valuable £STG into our crappy Euros
Demon Tweeks, from who I bought the Magnex BB and Centre (and I can vouch for their service - 2 days from ordering I had recieved them) have quoted me £196 incl. P+P to Ireland for the Magnex D/P.
I will give Scoobysport a call to find out how much theirs will cost me delivered to my door and take it from there. Then whenever I do get it I'll have to start worrying about having it fitted.
Cheers

Gavin,
For the Magnex I'm sure you'd get a better price from Jamie Whitfield (www.j-w-racing.com) or Colin at motorsportworld (www.motorsportworld.co.uk).
Failing that - if you have Halfords/Ripspeed over there, they may suprise you..........
Cheers

Sorry no cnc benders at Hayward & Scott all our exhausts are hand made. The down pipe that was designed by Hayward & Scott in 1998 (with 20 years experience) is still available for £175 + vat

Mac's power? Not sure of the web address I'm afraid. Oh no, found it! www.macspower.net. They only do BPM, I think, for exhausts? But that's no bad thing

Gavin,
Bummer, maybe its time to set up your own tuning company for scoobs over there I've always found DT expensive myself especially delivery but I'm mainland so it may not be so bad when shipped over to you
Good luck!
