Question

Do these blanket things help in any way? For anything?

Presumably hot air, better/lower spool-up, but also hot air, hotter parts & oil/water, etc.

End up making any difference to anything?
Or is it just a tart-part?

they help spool up when you first start giving it some. Might not make a difference on a TD04, but I know on a TD05 that you will get more boost on the second acceleration run.

If the up-pipe, headers, and turbo are cold, they will take heat out of the exhaust, which will result in slower gas speeds.

Can also reduce under bonnet temps, the core of the turbo is water cooled, so overheating shouldn't be a problem, but I don't think anyone has looked into that aspect of things.

Hmm, more positive than I thought the response might be - I think I'll give it a go - thanks Paul!
