Question

Help!

Does anyone know how to fit a Forge Motorsport dump valve (atmo) onto my Scooby Sti? ('97P reg).

I've had one delivered today which I'm told is easy to fit - but it came with no instructions!!

Any advice is greatly received!

Cheers

Scott

PS: My intercooler is not angled in comparison to the body; it's set square-on.

Scott, what sort of dump valve did you buy? Re-Circ. or vent to atmos.?

If re-circ, follow the pipe from the right hand side down to a black plastic device with two big pipes and a smaller pipe.

Undo the two jubilee clips and disconnect the small pipe, and just fit the new unit.

As for a vent to atmos, the dump valve goes into the pipe from the intercooler, and the small pipe connects to the top, you should have also got a blanking plug, this goes into the other big pipe.

Dan, it's an atmo. I've just come back from a test drive and to be honest I'm not too impressed with the sound of it. It just seems to make a 'chirp' sound, but you have to rev it pretty high to even get that sound (about 4-5000 revs).

Just to check I've fitted it right: the fat pipe (coming from r/hand side of intercooler) is now fitted to the dump valve. The fat pipe coming from underneath the intercooler is now bunged. The thin black pipe (vacuum pipe) is now fitted to the other end of the DV.

Hmmm... I'm sure this is right but was expecting a better sound from it...

Cheers.

Wink

Give the spring time to bed-in.

You don't get new brake pads in and go and do a 140mph emergency stop do you?

The spring is brand new and needs maybe a hundred or so operations at least before the sound comes to what it should be. ALL dumpvalves will get louder over time from initial install as the spring tension lessens.

Give it chance before you decide. If you go for a slacker spring, then later decide to increase boost, you risk the possibility of it leaking.

Cheers
