Turbo Timers & immobilisers?
#2
Err, with the immobiliser bit, it still works as usual - once the engine has cut off. I have no idea about the current bit. If the alarm/immobiliser is set to arm/lock 30s after inactivity, then the TT runs the engine, switches it off, then 30s or so later the car arms & locks. Probably a little spooky for someone walking past

So from your answer it sounds like the car would be unlocked all the time the timer is running? So you can't really leave it anyway, so what's the point of the timer?
I suppose it depends on how the immobiliser is activated, if it is electronically activated by the action of turning off the ignition, it wouldn't come on until the timer turned the engine off. However, if it is activated by it's own switch operated by the key then there would be a problem. The alarm current sensing would probably still trigger after the 30secs settling period though

I've got a TT and Clifford alarm/immobiliser.
I just turn on the TT (on the keyring) before turning off the engine, get out and 'blip' it as usual.
Its then locked (and immobilised anyway) but the engine keeps going for 30 seconds or so. No probs.
If i didn't lock it and someone climbed in, they couldn't start it again anyway as the immobiliser kinks in as soon as the engine stops and so.....

The timer's quite handy by itself if it's one of the auto things - just use it as an auto-countdown thing. Sometimes it's suprising how long the car needs to be kept running, or how little, so the gadget could be used 'manually' instead & still be useful.Depends where you leave the car, really!
