Anyone have any information on the updated Scoobysport exhaust. I noticed on their website they say they have a new fabricator, they are no longer acid washing the exhausts, and they will all be tig welded/laser cut.

I'd really like to see a pic and hear more detail on the improvements that they have made.

cheers

Coming very soon, according to Pete who I spoke to last Tuesday; no doubt later this week; though he must have a huge backlog of orders to fulfil.

Change of engineering company apparently, but still manufactured
to their specification.

Guys I will have pictures and info up very soon.

The first batch goes out during w/c 21st October and as said above that is a lot of exhaust parts (over 160 parts!!).

The new exhausts are being made for us by Janspeed. We approached a couple of companies, but Janspeed were the only company with a CAD suite, Gas Flow test machines, CNC bending machines and enough skilled TIG welders to cope with our volumes. Their commitment in the R&D work has been incredible, looking into every minute detail to improve the design to make it the absolute best.

Whilst we have kept the same overall style and sound, the major changes are a big reduction in "in car" noise caused by noise bleed through the silencer walls, even better gas flow (bench test proven increases), much better fit with more clearance every where and CNC accuracy to ensure that all parts are identical.

The quality of the TIG welding is superb and the finished products are something that any skilled craftsman would be proud of.

Janspeed will continue to sell their own budget rear silencers, as the design, materials and construction of these are completely different and there is no conflict with the parts they make for us.

Yes David, but then I don't know of an exhaust company that doesn't make exhausts for Novas.

What you have to look at is the quality of a company's technicians and designers. Some companies hope a product will be OK, some use CAD and flow test equipment to refine a design, then CNC produce it to exactly replicate what testing showed to be the optimum.

I don't know of any other companies that are OE suppliers to Lotus and Aston Martin though, or make exhaust parts for a certain WRC team that we all know very well

And I don't know of any companies that can offer the same parts in titanium

Wow - think of the performance gain using titanium - how much weight saving will that be ? - I'm not going to ask the cost though...

Janspeeds R&D is among the best.
From experience, their performance exhausts really are very very very good. Have had some fitting issues in the past, but aside from that excellent......any chance of legacy fitments, Pete?

Hi Steve

Systems for Legacy Single and Twin Turbos will follow, as will Forester N/A and Turbo plus Sport.

It will take a few months as we are reworking every single piece to improve its design and performance.

Yes, Rally Performance will be our US distributor of the new exhaust parts and there are a couple of pallets of exhausts leaving for the US next week.

SCOSaltire... lead time is now down to approx 10 days and will continue to fall as the stock keeps coming through.

Darms... the tailpipe shape will be very similar to what we have always done, although we have changed it slightly to improve the way it looks at the back of the car. The silencer casing will now be shiny. The tailpipe shape is virtually a Scoobysport trademark and we know that people like it.

I'll leave the jap style to the jap producers.

'the tailpipe shape is virtually a Scoobysport trademark' is it? I wonder where you got the inspiration from

Good luck

Lo Pete,

"Systems for Legacy Single and Twin Turbos will follow, as will Forester N/A and Turbo plus Sport"

Any chance that the N.A. Legacy will be included (crosses fingers and toes)

Mark.

LOL at Floyd

Eventually we will have every Subaru model covered, but it will take a couple of months. The models that we have most orders for are getting the priority.

Mike, sometimes we inovate, sometimes we take the best available make it even better
