Any way to remove imobilizer on 1999/2000 WRX?

I am going crazy trying to wire a 1999 WRX engine in my USA car. I have the coded key and imobilizer unit but cannot get the light to come on and the car to start. Is there any way to remove the imobilizer system besides switching in a non-imobilizer ECU?
