ok after driving home 2nite the car decided it wanted to give me grief

small price to pay i suppose.

started when i thought id give her a little tickle, the fuel cut off kicked in and "CHECK ENGINE" came on and stayed on.

when i got home, althjo dark, i needed to know whats wrong with my babes

so i put the diagnostics on and got 2 error codes, 24 and 33.

24 - Air control valve
33 - Vehicle speed sensor

now, a couple of days ago i stuck on a new guage id just bought, and it wires into the loom right next to the ecu.
and since then, the car did stall on me 2wice ?!?! but i thought that may just be the cold, but im more sure now that its this guage sending a false signal into the ecu ?!?!

any1 had these codes b4 and cured them easily ?
ill start 2mo by taking off the guage.

p.s. the guage is a AIR/FUEL Ratio guage. bought it from scooby mania, i think

thanks for any help guys n gals.

disconnect the gauge... check your joints are soldered properly... it may be that it is taking too much fuel.. as for vss. then Check connection on the back of the gearbox and make sure you havent used that as a ground.. then do reset and see what happens....

Ring me if you want a hand..

33 was the speedo cable which i forgot to plug back in after doing the conversion my my dash lights
blue now look wicked
cost around £20 to do and looks the part
all parts can be obtained from maplins or farnells

error code 24 was the air flow sensor, when i took off the guage and reset the ecu i got no more problems.
but have noticed that my boost is peaking about 1.4bar

if you want any info on doing the dash mod let me know

Isn't error code 24 the idle solenoid thing??? I too have been getting these two error codes after fitting a Lambdalink... 33 is cause the speedo cable came off after messing around behind the dash so no worries there but why would fitting a lambdalink bring up code 24?????? Dave, where have you got that it's the air flow sensor from????

Also why would this cause fuel cut???

Great page that Dave.... error code 24 would explain where the fuel cut came from..... i've clean the valve out a bit and hopefully that will have sorted it.

Question

Hi Dave,

Do you have any part numbers for the dash lights you got from maplins/farnells?

Regards

Johny.

Dunk, the valve is located on the top right (looking from the front of the car) of the inlet manifold with an electrical connector coming out of it. To clean it take the breather pipe off the back of it and squirt some brake cleaner in....... may be different for the different MYs tho.

Tony.
