After fitting dawes and testing the car (94 wrx) boost leveled at 0.92bar,
but car has started hitting the fuel cut!
Been out tonight and had a good look at revs and boost readings, in 4th gear put foot down boost rises fast and stops at 0.92bar at around 3,500rpm, then with foot planted still, watching the digital boost gauge, boost starts to rise again slowly and car starts accelerating faster, boost rises up to 1.00bar and hits the fuel cut!
Why is this? never had a turbo'd car do this, the boost normally tails off! It literally hits it's peak, stays level then very slowly climbs until it cuts out! It would prob keep climbing if fuel cut was raised!
Thought I could have set dawes wrong but it's not like it's hitting too much boost all at once

sounds like boost creep. !

restrictor needs a drill shoved up it's **** I think.

Somebody else like to confirm tho before you go attacking your turbo

There is no restrictor left in the system I hope/presume?

Could be a faulty actuator?

Andy, I should get my coat more often - he has a Dawes in hence no restrictors.

had the same prob when i fitted my dawes, i shortened the pipe between the dawes and the actuator and found it was a little loose!
changed the piping for good quality silicone pipe and the problem dissappeared!!!

must have been leaking on high boost!

Boost creep is caused by the inability of the wastegate or wastegate actuator to bypass enough exhaust gas flow around the turbine wheel. Boost creep is made worse by extemely free flowing exhaust and intake.

Are you catless?

Dawes may be leaking/bleeding air slightly. sometimes they can leak from the thread where it's joined together or from the adjustment end.

So could be a number of things then?
Guess I should look at the dawes first though, pretty sure it wasn't doing it before, PTFE tape on the thread of the dawes?

Could be that someone had previously tightened in (shortened) your actuator rod ? This can show up as rising boost with rpm.
