Unhappy

I have recently fitted a hks fmic to my 95 wrx with abs the problem I've got is there is no room to fit a filter onto the maf pipe. Has any body got any photo's of a fmic on a 95 wrx with abs plus any information to what air filter is being used. I'll try and borrow a digi camera later and post some pictures.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Rich Wild has just fitted a HKS FMIC to his MY96 UK car (with ABS), think he had one or two problems with the fitting . Don't beleive they involved the filter/abs tho. Last time i saw it it looked v. nice . Hmmmmmm..... where's my credit card gone?????

It looks very nice indeed, yes I had a few problems to say the least. I have removed the turbo funnel found on the early car due to the pipe would not clear this and was rubbing, also the rear intercooler mount was removed. Every thing else was straight forward including cutting the front bumper..

The HKS DD (I think it's name?) is seriously short & stubby. I'd have thought this would be a good bet?

Bloody 'ell! That is a bit tight mate.

I'd love to say "here's the solution" but the kit fitted to mine is different, it's the kit for the STi3 and it was a nightmare to get on but we did it in the end. I went for the Sti3 kit as it has less sharp bends in and hence HKS told me that it flows better.

Had to cut an extra hole in the inner wing that the later cars have already but had no probs fitting my Blitz SUS in. Think your main problem is the fact that the IC pipework goes through the air inlet hole. If you didn't have ABS, it wouldn't be a problem but because you do, it'll be hard. I'd say you'll probably have to swap that nice shiny air inlet pipe for a custom Samco jobbie and bodge it somehow. Let me have a think and if I come up with any idea I'll let you know.

Here's mine anyway...

Cheers

OOH! just thought.

Best bet is probably k&n 57i cone as they are quite long and thin,
Sure someone would lend you one to try if you ask.

Cheers

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the photo's, it looks like I have sourced a adapter that bolts onto the maf sensor now all I need is a fabricator to weld a alloy pipe to this so I can cut another hole in the inner wing and run it along side the intercooler pipe. hey presto cold air induction kit, failing that I will probably have another intercooler pipe made similar shape to yours.

No probs,

HKSubaru,
which shiny bits do you mean?

The oil filler cap and header tank are Forge items.

Cheers
