Check out www.rallispec.com sport parts for gearbox/diff bits
1K sounds pretty cheap, but dont forget all the other bits needed. The diff ratio in the 6speed seems to be a 3.9, with a 1:1 transfer box, so you would need a 3.9 rear end too.
Not sure about front shafts, but AFAIK standard ones dont fit.

Steve cos my box is crap.. and it sounds good! oh and lots of boost..
Stevieturbo..
Shafts wont be too much of a problem.. Well ok they will... (minor problem..) mind you I havent had an impreza cv joint in bits yet..
Transfer box is the back part of the gearbox isnt it??
So I need a 3.9 Rear Diff.. What is the 94uk as std?? and what has a 3.9 as std.. Can I just fit the crown wheel and pinion?
Need a automatic's prop as well..
Just out of interest do all MY01's have a 6spd?

Shafts may be a problem, as will getting a 3.9 rear diff to suit.
You may have to buy a CWP for the rear as Im not sure what actually came with a 3.9. UK cars have a 1.1:1 transfer ( bit on the back ) with the front using a 3.9, and the rear a 3.54
The STI is the 6spd AFAIK, the others are all 5. With the new car having a wider track, I assume that the shafts will be longer. They may also be of different diameter, but I havent looked into it yet.
I think it will be an excellent upgrade though, as the 6speed also has a front LSD, so it will be a value for money upgrade getting the whole box,as they seem to be strong too.
