Question

Hello, i've just got a quick question for anyone...
I have a standard MY98 with only a VTA dumpvalve fitted about two weeks ago. The last few days i have noticed that when i use the clutch to change down/up a gear the engine almost stalls. Its worst when i slow down and change down a gear i've even stalled a few times. It only happens when i'm running on boost. Driving under boost (below 3000revs) is fine. Any ideas what this might be, or how can i fix it??? The engine starts and stops fine, and idles at 700/800 with no prob. Also if i rev the engine from idle the revs goes down to low and almost stalls the car. Could it be the dump valve doing this (even though it was working ok when i got it fitted)??? Any ideas anyone ???

Question

Im not sure what that is...
How do i get it repaired?
Its getting kind of dangerous, especially if im going round a bend and then it almost stalls - makes the power steering shut off ;o(

I've also had the same problem after fitting a Forge VTA dump valve

Mine is intermittent and only happens if you come to a sudden stop from about 70mph after driving hard - it doesn't usually stall but the revs dive almost to zero then the ECU picks it back up again.

I put it down to where I have put my dump valve and though it might be the 'dumped' exhaust fumes re-entering through the air intake???

I also notice that when I come to a stop, I get a horrible 'cat' smell in the cabin - which I presume is again due to the location.

To rule out the DV, take it off and refit the standard one and see if it still happens..
