Not sure if I'm on the right track here but when I rev slightly & let it drop to idle I hear a slight tick-tick-tick noise. Would this be the tappets?

How hard is it to check to see if this is the problem & how much to replace/fix?

Real lack of knowledge in this dept, so any help at all would be apreciated.

Sounds like the Wastegate Solenoid. Does it sometimes carrry on making the noise for a second after you switch the engine off? If it is the soleniod, it's completely normal.

Ta for the reply - but definetly coming from the engine. Would anyone have a sound bite of tappets? - doubtfull but maybe.

Tap Tap Tap! What you are hearing is the injectors! Ever heard 750cc injectors when idling?? Car sounds like a diesel.

Could have got you a sound bite mate but I've just added some wynnes hydraulic lifter additive to my engine and it's got a lot quieter. The stuff was recommended to me by another scoobynetter and I got some from Halfords. Does yours get quiter when warm?

Im thinking, even if it was the tappets there are 4 camshafts and at a rough guess of £7 per Follower ...... although they can be re sealed its still gonna hurt!
