just had new cluth fitted, still juddering after new clutch installed, new plate/cover/ release bearing/flywheel skimmed/everything that should be done, but still juddering, could it be loose engine mounts ir miss aligned input shaft or un ballenced prop...? steering wheel is vibrating at 70/80 mph(wheels ballanced...

any ideas what may still be wrong(garage stumped as to what is wrong, have fitted dozens of new clutchges recently, but none have been as cr@p as mine after change)

regards

crikey,i hope not car is only 2 1/2 years old!!! and the engineer noted that there was no sign of "abuse" on the flywheel! the car is driven spirited every now and then but never abused

could that still cause judder?

my new clutch took a good 4 weeks to bed in....
at first, the judder was unbearable(even the technician that fitted it was embarrased)...but now,5k later,no judder whatsoever.
hope you feel a little better now

hope your right elmer,im going on a 1k mile trip this week so hopefully this will give it some time to bed in,the judder in 1st and second is un bearable(far worse than the old clutch which only did it when cold or hot in traffic),now it is every time im in the lower gears. 3rd to 5th is superb(its a paddle clutch and seems to have dialled out any slip or transmission loss, engine seems to pull like a train in these gears!)

thanks for your words of hope!

If I understand correctly and you now have a competition type, paddle clutch fitted then the juddering may never completely go away. All the paddle clutches I've had in the past (including the one fitted now) always judder a bit at low speed in 1st/2nd gears. I'll probably get shot down in flames for saying this though...

Just returned from my wee trip to norway, since leaving here the clutch has got better, but still judders h3llishly in 1st and 2nd and ocasionly going down the box from 5th.
scooby racer it is the 4 paddle competioion clutch(prodrive gp n one) and was told it would solve my probblems(the original one had huge dust build up in the casing, and was told that the paddle clutch would solve this too)

has anyone fitted a competition clutch without judder?

if i was sitting on the start of a stage it would take all my courage to drop the clutch in anger!!!!

also, since the job has been done,my steering wheel vibrates(wheels reballanced have not sorted it,waste of a tenner, any ideas??

regards
dave
