this is similar to other stories, the difference is when you get one without a resonator.

I've just popped a Magnex cat-back system to my RB5 and was considering a mid-section upgrade, but I really don't want to lose that burble in the engine.

My Mate has a PE manifold with a magnex backbox; since he fitted the manifold it sounds like a mondeo?!?!? In fact that's his other car!!!

Is it really worth going any further with a decat section for a 99 RB5? I'll openly admit that Ii'm pretty clueless about the technical stuff, but love my scoobie to bits.

Any advice on more power without wads of cash?

I would guess that you had an RB5 WR with the PPP fitted which already has the resonated center section fitted as part of the PPP.

It will be the PE manifold that loses the burble. Full decat with or without resonated centre will retain burble (standard exhaust has resonator).

Exclamation

It's not the WR RB5 unfortunately - just the bog standard one (well, as bog standard as scoobies get!).

I think I just read somewhere that the MY99's don't have a back cat, is this true?

How confusing is this?

My car is a non WR version

scoobysport DP and BB with the Magnex resenator centre

the car now has a lower burble at idle and is slightly quieter, but when it's opened up it sounds heavier without the rasp it had before.
