Hope this is not a dumb question. Does the PPP for a MY00 have a cat at all?

If it does, would it pass an MOT if I fitted the scoobysport downpipe?

Thanks guys

Yes it does. It removes the centre section cat, but keeps the downpipe one. The centre section cat is there to pass the EU cold start emissions test, and its not needed to pass the UK MOT.

If they were to sell the car from new with a PPP it would fail the EU emissions regulations, but they can sell it as an aftermarket kit which falls under a different set of regulations.

Cheers Neil

So presumably it would fail an MOT and roadside emissions test with a scoobysport DP as well?

Yes.

Unless the engine is hot, and even then it might fail.

All you (allegedly) do is get the failure ticket, put the old downpipe back, go to an MOT station and pass the test. Then put the DP back on...

Neil, isn't it easier to put the OEM centre-section back on than re-fit the down-pipe?

Richard.

Do you still have the OEM centre (with cat)??

The DP is bugger to re-fit, so the best option is to get the SS DP, then if you get stopped just swap over the centre for the OEM catted one.

My car (MY99) passed easily with just the centre cat on.

If you don't have it, try getting one from someone on here.

If you refit the centre section cat, the car is marginal as far as emissions go. Most people I know who've fitted a Downpipe to a PPP'd car put the original DP back on again to be sure.

It's worth a go though.

Yes, I've still got the original centre-pipe as all your original bits are returned when you get the PPP fitted.

Neil, I hope you're wrong When I had ScoobySport de-cat my whole exhaust they assured me that the OEM centre-section would pass an MOT. Indeed, they keep one handy in the workshop for customers to borrow at MOT time.

I shall NOT be happy if I have to take the down-pipe off for an MOT. I'm sure someone posted on here quite recently that they had refitted just the centre-section and passed. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Richard.

Hoppy.

I was told that the centre cat was designed for cold start tests and as such was less effective than the one in the downpipe.

I'm sure a CO2 test is pretty cheap to do(some places do a free cat check for you) that'll tell you if you are ok or not.

From what I remember its down to the individual car as to if it passes or not so the best thing to do is check before the test.

Cheers, Neil. I'll do that a little nearer the time so that if the DP is needed I can book the necessary workshop time. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Richard.
