Question

Does anyone know if there is any difference (apart from ratios) between a Wrx gearbox and the UK box?

Thinking of putting UK box on MY93 WRX

When you say UK box, what do you actually mean?

Some of the later model WRX boxes had twin baulk rings which allows smoother gear changes and are very slightly stronger.

By UK Box I mean the GBox from an original UK Turbo as opposed to my Jap Import

I know the ratios are slightly longer but I need to know if the housing is the same?

Any thoughts??

The UK and Import 'boxes both gained twin balk rings at the same time. Yea, the ratios are different but more importantly, so are the final drive ratios (drop gears and CWP's). This means you gotta change the 'box and the rear diff at the same time. Otherwise the centre diff will be constantly working, overheat, break etc.... as well as winding up the driveshafts and prop, so basically a bad thing.
