Just been to pick some Mobil 1 15/50 from halfords, and it rung up as £27.19 on the till. Price marked was 33.95 but who am I to argue.

Probably the same nationwide, worth checking if you are gonna be doing an oil change this weekend

I wnet along on opening day of local store and got Ow40 for £21-50 as they were doing 20% off even already reduced stuff.

Yep stick to Mobil 1 motorsport 15/W50 the 0W40 is to thin for some turbo/hiogh performance engines and thats why the motorsport version was brought out.

And how was it being driven after the service ( who serviced it, and did they definatley use Mobil ? )
With the engines that have **** big ends, what was the condition of the other bearings in the engine when it was taken apart? Where the mains and big ends bad, or just the actual bearing that failed?

ustole...

Subaru dealer, FsSH car
Mobil motorsport 15/50
Hard driven at the time, but always allowed to idle & cool down
Couldn't repair the bits - needed new short engine

ie Nothing differently was done other than using 15/50 Mobil for the first time - I have a theory that it doesn't 'coat' the engine
in the Subaru as well as other 'magnetic' oils

Talking of services and then blown engines.....

I have had a couple of instances after minor services where the oil (Subaru stuff) just vanishes if I do long, hard journeys.
The oil level goes from just under full to below the low mark.
Thinking its some terminal problem, I top up with Mobil motorsport.. and then have no problem until the next service.

WTF is going on?

4.5 litres for a std turbo.
You should never mix synthetic oil brands, you must use what the dealer used at the service, alternatively bring in mobil 1 for your dealer to use at the service.

just recorded 250bhp exactly at 6500rpm at 13.5psi

torque was 241 ft-lb at 4720rpm at 16psi

noisey tappets now quiet after oil change

Torque tail off same as boost, figure 265hp with boost held till redline.

All tweaks done via ecu remap.

didn't det, and I did adjust fuelling and ignition.

onwards and upwards.
