Hi,

Does anyone know a garage around the lincoln, leeds, sheffield, doncaster area that know there way around a scoob and could possibly fix a leaking front crank shaft oil seal... preferably one who doesnt want to bend me over and take all my hard earned...!!

Just had the bloody cam belt changed 3000miles ago will it need doing again..???

why the f*ck cant they design the seals properly ive just rebuilt my engine and refitted, only to find on seal dripping oil out....the rear crank seal!!!

so cant drive it as it looses to much oil, and im certainly not taking the engine out again

gutted mate...!!!

Mine is not leaking loads only a drip every 50 miles or so, i dont know what else it could be but it looks to be coming from the oil filter area.... ive recently changed my oil and because the oil i had in before had only been in for 2000 miles i decided to use the same filter....

Im wondering if the filter could of got damaged when taking it off then putting it back on again....???? any thoughts.?

No it didnt, just thought they went around 80,000miles which mine has done.....

Is there a seal above the filter..??

There seems to be a bit at the bottom of the cam belt cover too...??

yeah, around the top of the filter, there is a recess with a rubber ring seal as the oil is pressurised. it may be worth swapping the filter to check.
however, only use a genuine subaru filter as they are larger capacity, not worth risking another type. they are about 11 quid from subaru.

you mention some oil around the bottom of the cam cover etc, this could be front camshaft oil seals/front crank oil seal/oil pump housing gasket etc.

if it was me i would try the filter first, worth a go

cheers

cheers mate...

One last question... the oil i have in has only been in for 500 miles castrol RS 10/60... so if i take the oil filter off will all the oil drail out or will it only all come out by removing the sump plug...

Thanks

most of the oil will have drained into the sump. however, the filter will probably be full of oil when you remove it, so you'll get away with a top-up

cheers
