Seen another scoobynetter with a MY96 running 1.2bar with a FCD and bleed valve. Just wondered how safe this was. The HKS site shows their progressive tuning with exhaust then air filter then a FCD with boost controller. Since I already run a (MY96) 3" jetex system, K&N panel and dawes at 0.95 bar is it safe or adviseable to buy a FCD and raise the boost to 1.1 or 1.2 as a maximun figure?

Difficult to say whats safe, without monitoring things. Some cars run differently to others. Either way, I would not use a bleed valve. Way too unstable on a subaru.

MY96, is that a TD05 car, with elbow on the front of the turbo, or a small TD04 car, with straight entry. The later cars do seem to be able to run slightly more boost I think.

It's the laggy TD05 and I'm running more or less std boost at the moment with the dawes (0.95bar). Std was 0.8 bar and adding the exhaust was 0.9 bar.
