Question

I am using Mobil1 15/50 in the Cossie but the tappets rattle after prolonged thrashing...would seem the oil isnt quite up to 350bhp of pure power.....I know my tappets(hydraulic)are a bit ropey but i am considering moving to Castrol RS 10/60 any feed back on quality or anyone had probs with Mobil 1?

*checks self for why i am asking a sensible question*

Did anyone here also know that oil gets thicker the hotter it gets?Dont ask me how it just does ok!!!

An oil will lose it's viscosity (Thickness) when it gets hot. Always use a fully synthetic oil as they have a much higher boiling temp and will keep thir viscosity for longer.

I'm now using Mobil 1 Motorsport 15W/50 as you cant seem to buy Castrol RS 5W/60 - a very good oil in my opinion....

The Shell stuff looks pap and the wrong grade however a lot of people rave about Motul stuff.... and I think Subaru WRC team use it.... yanny yanny

Wink

Never had a problem with Mobil1 motorsport (15w50) it makes my engine seem v smooth compared to the cr@p that subaru recommend (shell helix 5w30!)

Imatrukahs,
you could try Motul 15w50, available from scoobymania?
or you could get your tappets replaced?

Tony
