Question

Hi,

I am driving a MY00 Turbo with a SS backbox and TEK 1 upgrade. I am thinking about purchasing a SS de-cat center and possibly a SS downpipe, can anyone answer the following questions.

1) What effect will the de-cat mid pipe have?

2) What effect will the mid and downpipe have?

I like the sound at present (just BB upgrade) but I'm happy to have more noise.

Cheers.

I think a lad called peccy had just a full decat system on his otherwise standard car and he got about 260bhp so there are some big gains to be had...!!!

Replacing the centre pipe will give you a bit more power but the biggest gains are when you replace the down pipe.
The turbo will spool up faster and give you noticably more power.

Does get a little bit louder but mainly you hear the turbo whistle as it spools up.

Only problem is come MOT time you have to put the centre cat back in and get it really warm to pass, though I have spoken to people who have passed with the full de-cat still in place!!

I agree with both, the dp is the most noticeable change but having said that, do the lot and you feel the car pulling harder and higher up the revs

Consider a Dawes MBC too Run at 16.5-17 PSI and smile. Works well with a Tek 1.

I am keen to upgrade both the centre and the downpipe, but how will it effect the noise? And what do you guys think of the Scoobysport full system?

Cheers in advance!!

rob, I run a full ss system (like many do ) and find it amazing over the Prodrive kit I used to have....amazing!

Noise, well its a bit subjective really, I love the sound

As JB says, try an mbc to up the boost a bit, dont get greedy though

As I said it gets a little louder! The noisest bit is the backbox as I remember.

I've got the full Scooby sport system and I'm happy with it, though I'd like the Blitz or HKS, but don't know if I could cope with the noise of that everyday
