Can someone please tell me why my car has bad idling problems, it is a my99 uk turbo with full decat and cone filter. The car almost conks out when i come to a standstill and the idling fluctuates badly. From cold the car can feel as if it is starved from fuel or smothered for a second when i apply light throttle, it also has the hesitation that many 99/00 cars have. The only problem i have when the car is well warmed up is the idle problem.

Also check the MAF.

Im not very mechanical how can i check this, How much does a new Lambda sensor cost.

firstly check if its been recognised as a fault: Do a search on ecu codes:

Turn ignition off. Under the drivers side you can see some plugs, connect the two black ones together.
Turn ignition on (but not engine) and the check engine light starts flashing. long for 10 short for 1. Cant remeber what it is for oxygen sensor but you'll find it.

Other than that take it to someone who can read the ecu values, like a dealer.
