Could anybody please help me, I am trying to remove the turbo from my car (my99 uk spec). I have got the dp off, the coolant feed pipes off, the top oil feed pipe off, all the nuts that mount the turbo to the up pipe. The problem is that I can't sus out how to get at/disconnect the oil drain from the bottom of the turbo.
do I split the turbo at the v band clamp ?
Or is there a better way ?
Thanks everybody,
Mike.

there should be a metal fitting held on by 2 screws, onto which a rubber hose is clamped. You can either undo the hose or the screws. It will probably be easier if you can get under the car.

The easiest way is to just pull - it is fitted with a spring clip.

To get it back in - run some oil around the turbo drain pipe and then line it up and wiggle it in

Fitted two turbos last week - both went on a dream!

When re fitting, I normally leave the upper clip off. Oil is never going to leak out anyway, as the steel pipe is well sleeved down inside. Leaving the clip on the bottom only, stops the pipe from trying to push down when lowering the turbo down.

...aaah, the old oil return bugger.

A top tip is to use a jubilee clamp instead of the upper clip, this makes it a whole lot easier.

The lower clip is usually the major PITA to get back - you'll need to get under the car...

Mmmmm - well mine is obviously loosened up with frequent use. I suggest that if it is difficult then I would go with Stevie - I suspect a jubilee sounds like a nightmare to tighten up
