Question

I get a funny rubbery swishing once per rev type noise at very low speed, like as I move off & as I slow to stop (<20mph)

it's REALLY anoying. It's not the brakes - it still does it if I'm on or off them. it's not hand brake (tried same as brakes).

I'm a little lost as to what it could be!? Could it be the prop shaft? or a noisy CV joint / drive bearing? is there a propshaft bearing?

I cant seem to work out quite where it's coming from, but I think it's front to middle of the car - some where underneeth!

cheers for any ideas !
Steve

Have you changed the exhaust recently??
Reason i ask is because i had exactly the same problem after changing my centre section as i had not adjusted it properly and it was 'just' touching the propshaft

No .. not recently .. had a SS BB put on about a year ago - but will check that it's not rubbing! did yours do it at greater speeds too ? (coz mines only at REALLY slow speeds!)

it's like a rubbing noise .. but so weird to explain!

cheers

Only at low speeds for some reason??..
One other thing you can do is.. if you have a local kwik fix near you, ask one of the guys if they can lift the car up on the ramps with the wheels raised and have a listen to the underneath with the car running on tickover in 2nd gear..
For the sake of giving the guy a fiver (which normally works for me) you get some peace of mind of exactly what the prob is..

sounds like I need to get down and dirty under the car & have a look !
& if not, then up on ramps, like Rob suggests!
