Question

I've noticed when my car is cold it often feels like its running on 3 cylinders, almost misfiring at times.

Is this an indication that the coil pack's on its way out? Just had new plugs fitted at a recent service.

I've had a similar problem to this and it turned out it was just the battery was dying on me.
When you start the car is the starter 'keen' or 'lazy'?
If it's the later change the battery and see if it improves.

Also try taking each plug lead of, one at a time and with an old plug held near the engine, see if you can get a good spark.
I say an old plug as then it means you only have to pull the plug leads off (one at a time) rather than pull the plugs as well.
