No, not Matthew Corbetts glove, but my exhaust.

It does appear to be black and sooty. Does this mean it's running to rich, too lean, someone's sticking soot up it during the night, or something else? What should it be?

It means it's the same as everyone else's - rich as a, well, probably richer than anyone
