It's all been said before, so one more time
It's been decated on the centre pipe,(HKS + Super Dragger) so the pre-cat on the primary turbo is still there. It runs sweet as a nut now.
Is it safe or will the small primary be working harder?
How do i tell if its overboosting on the first turbo without a gauge?
What is the standard boost on the first & second? I thought it was .5 and .9.
BTW its a 97 BG5 manual.
Will my brain explode trying to work this out?
Any help ?

All Subaru twin turbos overspool the primary turbo when the cats have been removed, this is mainly due to the roller bearing turbos rotational efficency, they use the backpressure created by the cats to slow the impellas.

The twin turbo turbos are not rebuildable and very expensive to replace, and fail reasonably quickly after the cats have been removed.

M8, at least get a gauge, skimping on monitoring while modding TTs is the fast lane to tears.

The early 280ps cars also had a hankering to blow head gaskets when over boosted (yes, I had one...).

Join the B4 group on yahoo - there are quite a few BG TT owners, and they can really help - there is quite a lot of knowledge on there.

Fingers crossed you'll be OK (some cars do OK de catted, but some don't, so don't panic yet ).

Thanks dudes, AJ, I have joined the Yahoo Group yesterday and will get some nice pics in to you all soonest when I can work out how the BBS works. Going in for suspension work soon I think a boost gauge is in order, Am I right in saying it goes into the manifold on the twin turbo setup? Can I do this myself?3
Cheers Tim
