I recently had a Blitz Nur Spec R and Scoobysport DP fitted to my STi 7.

Sounds lovely, but is just too loud!!!!

I love the look and sound of the Blitz and would like to keep it,
I love the performance of the D/P so would like to keep that also
So, what are the options to drop the noise a few db's?

Would a downpipe with a hi-flow sports cat (such as the P/E one) do the job, or am I really looking at a centre / back-box change?

Thanks for any advice.

I was expecting him to reply with "What bung?"

thought he might then try it and find it more acceptable.

I would like one of the Blitz systems on my car I think eventually... althought I shall have to listen to one first as everyone says that they are so loud..

The bung reduces the volume to an acceptable level, but raises the pitch of the sound, so it don't sound so good.

Also doesn't look so hot, so am seeing if there are any other options.

Running with the bung in the meantime though.....

Question

Do people find the full decat turbo back SS too loud or is it reasonable ( I know very subjective but any input would be appreciated).

Cheers,

You could ask Hayward & Scott to make up a centre section with a resonator to quieten it down a bit.

I put the Magnex baffled centre section between the ScoobySport DP and BB. Lovely sound under acceleration and not too much noisier over standard once cruising on the motorway etc.

And once i'd fitted that metal washer thingy to the DP (D'oh) it fitted together very well too.

HKS hiper looks v.similar but I think is almost as loud...
HKS drager looks v.similar & is quieter, but different sound...
TSL do a Jap-syle BB which you could put a whopper of a resonator on and/or centre-cat to quieten it down. Have no idea what that one sounds like...

Had a HKS Hiper and Scooby Sport D/P on my old Scooby and it was nowhere near as loud as the Nur Spec R, which is odd, 'cos the design is similar.

I would consider Hiper on the STI7, but I have the rear underspoiler and suspect that the angle that the Hiper comes out at will foul the underspoiler.

Perhaps the HKS Drager is an option, but its expensive.
Or, the TSL option...

Any answers on the high-flow sports cat option that PE do on their D/P??? Would that make it quiter? Would it affect performance?

Questions, Questions......

S.
