Anyone got any ideas,

I have an intermittent problem which occurs only when I have taken mr wrx on a hot run. Basically there is a lot of smoke that comes from the area around the turbo, looking underneath the car there is sometimes smoke coming from where the downpipe meets the central section.

My limited knowledge would make me think that if there is a problem with the turbo, there would be smoke coming from the exhaust under boost which isnt the case. Boost pressure also holds fine at around 1 bar.

I have cleaned the engine and can find no obvious signs of oils leaks, also the oil level doesnt go down drastically.

Any ideas pls !!

Rich

may be a small oil leak that gets "fried off" with the heat from the turbo - what does the smoke smell/look like ??

Could it be a leaky rocker cover gasket? Anyway, some nicotine patches would cure the turbo's smoking addiction..
