pas pump prob
hi guys
had a terrible pas leak since i bought my95 wrx,so yesterday popped down to a dealer and picked up the 0 ring.got the fluid out, took reservoir off and there was no o ring at all!!!!,no wonder it leaked.popped in 0 ring ,filled tank and got the air out ,sweet i thought
checked this morning and its still leaking
went back to dealer 2 day and was told that there was only one type of ring (black),is this right ?i read on the board there was 2,a black one and a red one,any ideas much appreciated

I thought there was only 1 o-ring, you could always put some silicone sealant around it to ensure its tight.
Btw I got another pump from Grade A for about £70 for my MY99 STI-V so should be a bit cheaper for an earlier car.

There are 2 'o'rings, one underneath the reservoir cradle and one on the stem of the res. Change both as the heat from the pump and fluid hardens the rubber especially the one on the stem. After putting it all back together, and topping back up, get someone to put the steering on full lock L-R and check for any leaks,(clean the area off 1st) there is weak spot on the pump which is the sensor wire for the pump to engine, this is located to the right coming from the back of the pump, and if it's squirting fluid out then you'll need to get a new wire and gasket which CAN be purchased from your local dealer. Any more Q's mail me off line as I've dealt with these probs before. BTW live near manchester if you're near I could give you a hand etc..
