Car jerking under hard acceleration
#1
I have a simliar problem as someone on here but my car is a MY92WRX, when I put my foot to the floor I get to about 4,000 RPM and the car jerks, at one stage it sat in 4,000 rpm and wouldn't acclerate any more until I laid off and put my foot back down again. The car seems to make a different noise as if it has missed a beat. I have just had the spark plugs replaced and thought this might be the problem. Perhaps the gap has been set to too much and the spark is blowing out or just not firing. ANy suggestion welcome. Thanks guys. I should add that I have a boost gauge in my car and it stays on 11 psi while it is doing this, even when I had the 4,000 rev halt it still read 11 psi. I should also add that it only seems to be doing it in 3rd and 4th gear, 4th the worse.
Thanks people hopefully someone has a suggestion.

I had this problem - When accelerating hard in 3rd or 4th (particularly 4th) the engine lost power at around 4000 RPM.
One day, I decided to turn off the air conditioning, and found that the problem stopped?! Anyway, it still occasionally does it when the aircon's on, but NEVER does it with it off, so when I want to floor it on the motorway, I push the a/c button first!
Your problem could be something completely different - just a thought.

Ok I will just like to add what happened tonight on the way home, dropped down into second gear to pass a slow car at a set of trafic lights, put my foot to the floor and the car jerked violently backfired and a huge cloud of smoke appeared out of the back of the car. SOmething must be seriously wrong here. It wasn't doing this before I had the plugs done. Perhaps its a bad plug? thanks people.
