Nick,
I've just done this tonight. I'll give you my story in a mo.....but you may want to look at these threads first.

Have Fun
Anyway..... I've connected my Dawes AFM to the ECU wire (Blue Block No. 21, there's a pic in the above threads). I soldered it in place. If you have a multi-meter it may be worth checking your lambda sensor is working as mine wasn't.
I wired the power cable directly to the battery with a 2 amp fuse in the + wire. I fed the wires through the bulkhead using the gromet in the passenger footwell (easy without AC, bit more difficult if you have AC). To go this route I extended all the wires.
I've currently got the AFM mounted on the steering column, I dropped the steering column suround to do this (v easy). The AFM can be easily fed round the back of the dash. I may move the AFM once I've monitered the cars running. Other places sugested are down to the left of the steering wheel so you can see it through one of the gaps or somebody has mounted it behing the blanking plate in the centre console.
I hope that helps

Nick, I have just fitted dawes AFM and mounted behind plastic cover where aircon switch would be, car is UK MY 97 without aircon obviously, you can only see the 4 leds, about 3 mm of each so it looks really neat, complete git to do and took several hours to do but worth it, wired to ecu for signal and ground and stereo for live. Hope this helps if you haven't finished yet
