OK, it may sound like a weird question, but I thought my car was standard, however getting the receipts etc through and theres one for scoobysport fitting a de-catted centre section. Is there anyway to spot whether it is or not?

Cheers

If there's no 'box' of sorts near the downpipe join on the centre exhaust section then it will be a de-catted pipe. Is it a UK or European car? I ask because most, if not all, Jap imports have no cat in the centre section even though there's a box on the pipe. UK and European cars do however, so if the pipe has this box then the standard catted one will probably have been put back on...

...except the ScoobySport ones AFAIK used to be the standard tube but with the cat ripped out. So they look really similar.

Didn't know that. Thought they only did a stainless steel straight through, like Magnex for example. You live and learn and all that...

When I got my car it had a Magnex exhaust which I thought had replaced the 2nd cat, but there is some sort of box after the downpipe.
Could this be a 'resonator'? What do these look like? Do MY97's even have a 2nd cat? I'm hoping this might be a cat so that when I get the decat d/p I may be ok for MoTs
One things for sure, it's definitely not a straight through section - there's something in there!

Surely my car would fail an MOT if it was missing the centre cat?

No, I believe the d/p cat alone is enough to pass the MoT.
