Gearbox Removal

did mine a couple of weeks ago, the arm is easy to disconnect.
there is a cap on the gearbox which conceals the shaft, i think this is undone with a 10mm allen key, behind this will be the shaft which has a 10mm thread in it, i cant remember which bolt i used but one of the 10mm bolts on the car threaded into the shaft and it pulled out quite easily.
I found the easiest way to remove the front drive shafts was to disconnect the mounts on the chassis that hold the wish bone to the car, that way i just pulled the wheel outwards and the driveshaft pulled off.
before you can pull the drive shaft off of the g/box you must drive a pin out of each one, if you look under the car at the drive shafts (you may have to turn the d/shaft) you will see a pin that has a bigger hole on one side of the d/shaft, this is the end that the pin must come out of.
i used a drill bit to drive out the pins in the drive shaft, they were a bit hard to dislodge at first but they do come out!!
the propshaft just slides off of the end of the gear box (no pin)
just gotta feed the babs, will add more in a min

I left my downpipe on when i did the clutch, which caused no end of hassle, if you can remove this (which i couldnt due to dodgy bolt) it will help you lots...
i managed to take the rear propshaft shield off (by the back axle ) and disconnect the prop centre mount to slide the prop off the back of the g/box,
oops, forgot to add.. drain the gearbox oil before you start!!
removing the intercooler is not nessicary but can help you when tryin to get at the top of the g/box
gonna munch now, any other questions, post and i'll help if i can once ive eaten....
one final thin before i go..
Theres nothing better than the feeling of doing it yourself and saving all the labour money lol

you only say that when its done, not half way through and the damn gearbox is wedged on its mountings [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] then paying someone isn't such a bad idea

Any problems reconnecting it all back up??
I should have use of a ramp at the local training centre, so i'm hoping this will make things easier!!!

forgot to add that bit
Took 2 hours to get the box off the studs once i got the gearbox bolts out
refitting is easy peasy!!

Make sure you use a clutch aligning tool!! if you aint/cant get one, then use a 8mm socket on a short extension bar (half inch drive size)
