I have been told that the P1 gearbox has vaious uprated components from Prodrive, along with a 4.44:1 Final Drive.
Can anyone confirm this, or is it rubbish? What sort or revs are these cars pullling in 5th gear, at what sort of speeds? To get an idea of the overall gearing. 4.44 Seems very short? The person said that the P1 box has much stronger gears than other models of subaru. How many people out there have broke their P1 box?, and what broke?

just had one fitted to mine recently, I believe it's a 4.111 final drive and it pulls 4300rpm in top at 100mph as opposed to a regular uk car which is at 4,000rpm at the same speed.

Just as a point of interest, I've noticed higher oil temps and egt's running with this gearing at equivalent speeds to the old uk gearing. 300 rpm obviously makes quite a difference to heat at high speeds (on my car at least).

The P1 gearbox is the same as the sti 5 btu not the sti 5 type r.

It has the same gearing as any late 4 door sti including the final drive of 4.44.

I had heard that the stis had steel selector forks instead of alumnium, but cannot confirm this, either way, the uprated bits will be sti bits, not poordrive bits.

From checking a P1 Subaru site, the gearing is the same as the STI5, 1st-5th, and the 4.44 diff.
Checked the gearing, and the max speeds, for a car with 215/45x17 @ 8000rpm will be
1st 41mph Approx 5mph/1000rpm
2nd 69mph 9mph/1000rpm
3rd 99mph 12mph/1000rpm
4th 133mph 17mph/1000rpm
5th 175mph 22mph/1000rpm

Gear ratio calc...
http://www.vmar.com/java/gear.html

And ratios taken from...
http://www.subaru.co.uk/p1/p1frameset.htm

Tires Bridgestone RE10 Jap spec, 215/45x17, rollout measured at 1923mm. Not estimated.

The gear sets are not uprated over the UK box. At least third/fourth gear assembly is exactly the same part.
