Default Which clutch

I'm looking at replacing my clutch in the near future and I'm having trouble deciding which 1 to buy. The car is a Hawk STI running about 300bhp, but maybe looking to increase slightly in future. I'm torn between the Excedy pink stage 1 or the competition stage 2 from Scoobyworld.
I would really like people's opinions on these 2 clutches or if they have any other suggestions ?

Matt

I do indeed have the CC st2 fitted. No issues running 384/349 for about 4 years, now.

AFAIC, hardly any different to std.... And this with a considerably lightened, 7.5kg OEM flywheel, to boot!

I'm running competition stage 2 and would recommend it. As above close to standard feel and running fine at 421/380

You would be fine with either the Exedy and CC are both good clutches with O.E feel when in use and can both handle a good power increase.SJ.

I would say like everything it comes down to personal choice their has been no bad advice given based on members replies,as it's users feedback i have given mine as i have used both so yeah its down to your own preference really, and you said that your car is at 300 bhp and that you may add a few more horses in the future either clutch will be fine for your needs.SJ.

I've been leaning towards the CC clutch atm, it's also slightly cheaper too which is a plus.

I'll throw a wild card in ...... After destroying a pink box in a matter of months, I bought a helix clutch to use with the excedy pressure plate. I've had this clutch on a 320 classic for two years now. It's done umpteen track days, a run what you brung day and is currently being used as a commuter car. Really can't fault it and will definitely be buying another if I can kill this one. I bought mine from AS performance, not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things either.

You destroyed a pink box Exedy with 320bhp,how much torque?you must of been launching it everywhere you wentyou sure it was a genuine one?A standard Exedy can take 300+ with ease.SJ.

Yup it gets driven hard, during the bed in procedure (what's all that about in the 21st century) the excedy always smelt terrible when pulling away at any speed. I'm confident it was genuine it came from one of the most reputable specialists in the country.
The helix on the other hand has always "felt" good in all situations, I honestly can't remember how many times it's been launched. I did eight launches a few weeks back at a local rwyb and I've done at least ten track days. The past few weeks I'm using it for work as the wife has my daily driver.

In all honesty mate there in lies your problem,i always break in a clutch according to manufacturers procedures, launching from the word GO is not the way,i treat them the same way i would new brakes nice and easy until the recommended mileage has been achieved then increase the torque load and never have i had any problems with clutch slip etc.....Give it ago you might surprise yourself.SJ.

The Helix has been good since day one, I fitted it the day before my first track day and its performed faultlessly for two years.

If it works for you,Carry on mateI am not trying to convince/convert you,i am just stating the obvious that if a manufacturer tells you how to use/get the best out of their product i usually think its a smart moveto follow that advice, anyway i have no intention of clogging up the OP thread with this discussion,Advice/Recommendations has already been given to the OP so i will leave it there.SJ.
