Default 97 Clutch Master Cylinder Overhaul

Hi All,
I found my clutch pedal not returning properly and found really dirty fluid in reservoir. I have started to strip the master cylinder but expected the piston to pop out when I removed the circlip but it didn't. Is there a trick to getting the piston out.

compressed air at a tyre fitters or an oil gun with clutch and brake fluid in it might give enough pressure to push it out
