Question

I have only just got my Impreza Turbo MY99 and already cannot stop thinking about modding it. I have never felt this urge with the previous cars I have owned.

Do you know how much it costs for the performance, exterior and driving PPP options fully fitted at a dealer?

Sorry if this has been discussed in previous posts, any help appreciated..

I got a Prodrive Performance Pack on my MY00 when it was 12 months old. Cost £1763 from a dealer. I sold the ECU 6 months later. It was rather tame.

If your car has little/no warranty there are better options. If you see my profile you will see I am clearly biased.

For the cost of a PPP you could fit a Turbo Dynamics MD297 turbo (exchange for your turbo £500), decat downpipe, panel filter and have your ECU remapped to suit and enjoy about 270-300 BHP depending on your choice of rolling road. This is massively more effective than the PPP, and there are other variants with different ECUs or turbos for various prices.

Consider for more power a VF23 or 24 turbo made by IHI - say £800-1000 + fitting.

If you want a self - tunable ECU consider the Link ECU. Others also have excellent results with Unichip, Apexi Power FC, Apexi AFR, AVC-R etc.

However, other performance options that I have no interest in and would recommend over PPP include:

Decat downpipe £250 installed
Dawes manual boost controller £35

This will get you PPP levels of performance for less than 20% of the price.

AK47, yes, this has been discussed once or twice

John is right - you can do better than a PPP for less money. But the PPP for your car is very good, and retains your warranty. And all you have to do is drop your car off at your local dealer and pick it transformed. That's what I did and have been mega-pleased ever since.

But if you know what you're doing and are prepared to take the chance and the trouble of travelling around the county to get this bit fitted and then that bit fitted, a PPP car can be bettered.

And so, two years after having my PPP fitted, that's what I'm doing with a hybrid turbo and custom ECU mapping by, err, some bloke called John Banks

Enjoy your Scoob. Beware, they are addictive

Richard.

PS BTW, I have a complete PPP kit for sale!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info.

I have the car under warranty for another 3 years, so pretty much restricted to the PPP. The upgrade will give a lot more drivability just like the RB5 with the kit, so I will be pleased.

nichop, the PPP ECU seems to sell for about £600, but if you want the Full Monty with intercooler pipework, exhaust centre-section and Prodrive backbox (and the Prodrive Certificate ) I guess £900.

Lemme know.

Best regards,

Richard.
