VF 28/29/30

I think i posted this in the wrong area - so here goes:
I currently have an Aus delivered MY99 WRX. It has a apexi pod intake / 2.5" exhaust / Apexi AVCR / larger TMIC. I am considering a bigger turbo for more go.
Could someone please explain the differences in the turbos above - I am looking for a turbo that will hold 17psi to 7000rpm but also without lots of lag (my current TD04 hits 1 bar @ 2700rpm in 4th).
Also - can you run the std ecu with a larger vf series turbo?
Thanks,
RR.

Red,
Can't comment on the turbo's your interested in, but the OE ecu should cope OK with them - 99/00 ecu's are OK with a VF23
You should fit a high flow fuel pump as well.
However, while it works it wont be optimal - to get max benefits you'll need a remap. EcuTek is the obvious choice if you're near MRT.
Does the AVCR control boost? If not, the OE solenoid control may have a few problems with a diff turbo - but an MBC will sort it.
Oh, and beware of doing this on earlier cars - their smaller injectors seem to become a limitation.

Hi Red.
I have just installed a vf-29 and a link ecu and it hits 1,3bar at 3100 rpm and it can hold it all the way to redline.
But i have set it to tapper down to 1,2bar at 7000rpm.
