Default Longer 5th in 95 RA box

After a long and exhausting search for a replacement box for my RA I've come up empty.
After reading and researching countless sites and threads I can't decide if going for the longer/taller 5th would be a good idea?
I hear there is a considerable drop in revs between the ra 4th and standard 5th? I don't want to go to the hassle/cost of getting the work done only to be unhappy with the results.

Has anybody got first hand experience with this conversion or better still a video showing the Rev drop between gears.

Thanks

What are the gear ratios (1-5) in a UK car and in a RA?

Ive driven an Ra with a uk 5th. I didnt like it.
Dont get me wrong its not the end of the world and not mega mega noticable. But i knew it was there. Waste of a good RA box in my opinion.
Ive just sold a full v2 sti ra set up.
Well i say i have, a lad from france paid me a while ago just waiting fir him to collecf.
Stick with it one will come up, just depends how much your willing to pay

Thanks for the insight Joe, i know it's a waste of an RA box but mine has lunched on its 5th cog anyway and there is no way of getting like for like replacement gears.

Have you tried Japan parts or asked Luke at Import car parts in the UK. I am sure the gear sets are still available in Japan

I fitted a JDM wrx import 5th gear in my version 1 RA box. It's a 0.825 ratio. The UK 5th is 0.738 ratio and a fair bit taller than the import one. If you use the JDM wrx 0.825 ratio 5th the the Rev drop will be fair bit less noticeable. That's the best I think. It will also make motorways a bit more bearable..and you even got a decent top speed .
