pipe length from boost solenoid to actuator...

as above,
does the length of the pipe from the boost solenoid to the actuator affect the manner of boost control?
its just mine looks quite a bit longer than it should do
thanks, ian

Funny enough I would like to know this also. Since mine split and had to purchase a normal thicker vacuum hose for it. I'm a bit paranoid that the car feels different because it is thicker and longer !!!
My car is an Impreza Turbo Catalunya 1997 BTW.

Im sure I read that it does, as it would take longer to pressurise the tube... try putting 1.5m or 2.5m in and becarefull

Strictly speaking, the shorter the better, but unless you are talking about major pipe length increases, I doubt anyone would ever notice a change. The less empty space inside the pipe there is to pressurise, the quicker the wastegate actuator will start to react. If there was a large volume of air ( ie, large/long pipes ) then it may be possible for a slight spike in the boost, but again, probably not very noticeable unless very long pipes.

thanks for replies
ive got a bleed valve on it, and running 1.4bar.
thing is, i was wondering like you say steve whether the wastegate reaction time would be slowed.
the pipe is nearly twice what it could be (not my work that bit!).
cheers
