Hi all newbie on the site just wanted to say hello and see if anyone can help with my problem on my uk 98 2000 turbo that I've owned for 7 years now




I Was driving the other day and when was changing from 2nd to 3rd the gears made a horrid noise and whet stiff so got recovered home !

So at home box was stiff in 2nd and 3rd so jacked her up got under and sprayed wd40 under the gear stick and all seemed nice again ( going in gear smooth )

So spun her up the road 1st and 2nd no problem but when in 3rd and was nothing there as if I was in neutral !!! And box when stiff again and now in neutral I can hear the teeth catching

So I'm after some help anyone no what it may be ? Bushes ? Selector ? Gather ? Box ?

I'm really stuck I'm in Havant portsmouth if anyone is close

sounds like your box has shat itself. time for a rebuild i think

But how come spraying wd40 to the underbody of where the gear stick is sorted it out for abit as didn't touch or go near the box ?

 

not sure but if youve got no 3rd gear then im no expert but that dont sound good to me

 

I stripped 3rd a few weeks ago. 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and reverse were all fine, going in smooth and no noises. Just like you said though, 3rd was like neutral. I put another box in. Sounds like you need to do the same or get it rebuilt.
