Default ppg question

hi all

i have got v3 type r running gear so r180 and 5 speed dccd and im unsure of ratios

my question is if i buy a ppg gearbox or gear set can i drop it into my casings and use my diffs so i can retain my final drive or does it not work like that?

basically are all the gear sets the same and its the diffs that are different?

cheers

I have a mate that has a modena 5 speed dog box for sale just rebuilt everything you need just a drop in conversion for your car be lucky if the box has done more than 60miles since rebuild by TEG.

Sound

If you can find out sooner rather than later it would e much appreciated or a rough idea of price as iv sort of squared a ppg box up albeit synchro not dog box

Been sort of advised against dog box as they require regular servicing

dog engagement box and a ppg gearset are very very different things.

for a road car i would stay clear of dog box's.

Its taxed and mot'd but far from a daily driver haha

If i get a dog box for the right money il give it a try and if i dont like it i can always sell it on

the gearbox that im looking to get i think if i can determine the final drive im probably best to get a rear diff to suit

as its a classic there is only a choice really of 3 final drives isnt there?

i might be lucky and it may even match my final drive...how can i really determine this without splitting it apart though?
