Great Service from API Engines, Harbury
I just wanted to make a quick thread to recommend API Engines in Harbury, Warwickshire. I recently purchased a blob eye WRX with boost/performance issues. I was recommended by a friend who happens to be a mechanic to API. David and the team at API were very friendly, honest and professional which is a hard combination to find these days when it comes to garages.
David the owner, personally took time out to come and assess my car even after his mechanic had been on a test drive and diagnosed the issues, which gave me the impression that they took great care in their customers. He sat me down and discussed what needed to be done to rectify the issues on the car and gave me various prices for the work.
The car had a re-map a few days after my initial appointment and i was astounded by how different my car felt/drove, it was a million times better! After the whole process i felt completely satisfied with the service, i had shopped around before committing to API and they were evenly matched in price with their competitors, what made me choose API was their customer service and reputation.
I recommend if you are within the Midlands area and have an issue with your scooby, take it to API engines.

Use the map onsite- for me its as much about the work I get done there, as the support I get afterwards.
Im taking my car rallying this year, and giving myself a world of problems (some self created!) and I kind of feel I may need to keep them on a retainer with the help they have given me (and lost themselves some revenue by telling me how to sort stuff)

Nowt wrong with Pat's mapping, he has been "our mapper" for a million years, but as he gets more and more successful with Syvecs / Solaris he has less and less time to waste travelling down motorways to get here.
Lowforry1, We're a bit of a hike from Hoick! [ Hawick ] {SORRY} but you might be nearer than Jersey.

I know David deals with customers all over the world. But I could be in the running for furthest drive in drive out customer!
No 6 speed this year, as the 5 speed API sold me in 2010 is still going strong

Sorry to jump in on the thread but it does have a relavence as I'm after some API expert advice. David when disconnecting a impreza battery does it matter which way the terminals are disconnected and reconnected?
Cheers

Yes, it must be done VERY carefully in a clockwise direction.
The car must be parked on level ground facing due East.
On a red car in the mornings take off the positive terminal first.
In the afternoons - in European summertime - you can do the same.
But if you remove the negative terminal first on a blue car in summer it will never start again.
Blue cars need the car to be facing North- South on a slope with the engine downwards. You need to remove the terminal counterclockwise - using only Snap-on spanners. Then and only then you must remove both terminals at EXACTLY the same time..

I got to know about you from Jo of CAT Driver, as their STI has an issue and is going to be taken by yourselves I believe. See I was booked for tomorrow, but now we will do something else.
Hopefully the car will be back, so that we can do the grip limit session!!!

I suffered engine failure last October and sent my car to api where I was dealing with Tom. I had bought a 66k ej207 with loom and ecu to replace my failed wrx engine. Had the sti engine sent to api to be fully rebuilt and plumbed in... They also put a running in map on but won't tell me who done it. Quoted me a price which was agreed, changed it half way through increasing the cost. Which I said no to. I asked them to swap my old engine for an uprated clutch, they said yes then put a std one in..... They had my car from October till May for a 3 week job, before I picked it up and they only give you a 3 month/3000 mile parts only warrentee on the work. When spending nearly 4k I expect a better warrentee and service and quality of work.
Since I had my car back, I have had to fix a lot of their mistakes..... These are a few.*
Small oil leak from oil temp sender on sandwich plate which they fitted, missing gearbox bolt, both were on the mot advisories list. They said they had done them but when I got the car home it obviously had not.
My foglight didn't work because they had not put the foglight relay in. The bonnet did not align up correctly or shut I had to get a new cable and lock from mattybr5 br5 to sort it out.
I have now done 1k miles in the car and it's ready for a health check, and remap. WILL I USE API AGAIN? **** NO..... My emails are blocked as well.
For me, I will use enginetuner.... To be honest I wish I had gone there in the first place.......
