Importing my Legacy RSK B4
#1
I've recently moved here from New Zealand and would like to ship my car, a Legacy RSK B4, to the UK. Does anyone know what regulations and tests I have to comply with in order to drive my car in the UK.
Many thanks

You will need to convert the car to pass the SVA test, with MPH dials and a fog light. The tyres need to be speed rated at a suitable speed for the car, and you'll have to pay import duty (10%of price) and VAT (17.5%) to bring the car into the UK. Others will probably be able to tell more about the SVA test, but the test itself costs £165.
I know it sounds expensive but compared to uk prices you'll probably make a decent saving

Simon if the car was first registered after the 1st of January 1997 and you have owned it for less than 6 months then it will need to have an enhanced SVA test where it will be subjected to more stringent test procedures such as noise, security and safety aspects, but you can purchase a Model report from a third party who has previously submitted a vehicle of the same spec for testing. If however you have owned the vehicle for more than 6 months prior to importation to the UK then it qualifies to be called a true personal import and as such would then just require a SVA test and MOT test.
If you need any more info try this site www.dtir.gov.uk
If you was just to need the normal SVA then you would probably have to just fit a rear fog light and convert the speedo to read in mph.
