Post Olympian Subaru - Poole

Just to set the record straight on the situation with Olympian in Poole.

They have told IM that they are not going to provide a new showroom to house Subaru. The cost involved is not commercially viable. This means they are not able to fulfill their dealer agreement and therefore from 17th Spetember 2005 will not be a Sales centre for Subaru.

Olympian will continue with an approved repairer agreement - which means they will continue to service Subaru's and supply parts.

I hope this clarifies the situation and puts to bed the rumour that Olympian were "terminated" by Subaru for any other reason than what I have stated above.

Well good luck Carl, but you have some serious issues there.

The staff turnover, the lack of space and general lack of customer care is shameful, I would rather take my car to Kwik-Fit to get it serviced, seriously.

I think you have a mountain to climb in your new job, all the best anyway.

same as us really and so far things have been good doesn't help when i.m help themselves to 25% of the profit in a new car. it makes selling subarus hard cos theres no profit it in it so not worth doing thats why dealerships are giving the franchise up.

Thumbs down Servicing

I must admit having bought my WRX03 brand new from Bell & Colvill in Surrey and now moved down to Bournemouth area, it didnt look to good turning up at Olympian to have my 20k service. At the time, there didnt seem anywhere to park, not much space to show the cars and i have to admit ive seen better "honest john" type 2nd hand dealers show their cars off! I know Bell & Colvill maybe a more "well off" dealer i.e. Subaru and Lotus's are sold there but the dealers are like chalk and cheese, not good for a dealer who was trying to part £25k from people looking for new subaru.

This isn't exactly surprising.
Can Olympian get anything right?

It's a good situation for the independants now, there's no way I would take my car to Sparshatts and Webbers are as cramped as Olympian.

And as for -

"But you'll devalue your car by not getting a franchise to service it"

If my car was 27k new and 9 months later I'm bid 16k for it (with FSSH) against another new car then forget main dealers ever again for non warranty work.

Triton recently did my 20k service for £120 including synthetic (exactly to spec as laid down in the service manual), it was done in 2 hours and it didn't come back with a big dent in it.
My old 2.5 Legacy cost me £250 for a 20k service at a main dealer, it wasn't washed or hoovered, the book wasn't stamped and the techs made up the tread depths on the check sheet.

That's what you're up against.

It's just a shame that they couldn't go through with it. Just remember, Olympian don't exactly have good reputation in the first place!

I bought my car from Olympian & have not been back there since. Their stated intention was always to use the showroom at the front left of the complex - not the portacabin rubbish at the back. Anyhow, their new car valeting was shoddy & they did not PDI my car - despite claiming that they had done so. I am sure that the Bournemouth area deserves a better dealer.
