[QUOTE=pslewis]Oil change and put your free PPP on if you got that deal
No PPP deal on Euro imports but I saved more than enough to get PPP if I wanted to, but don't fancy increased insurance and petrol costs yet!!

I'm getting the PPP on my STi on the 1000 mile service. Sadly though, the ECU has to be sent away which mean It will be off the road for 2-3 days. The agony !!

Do take care running it in though, as you've got more stress than std on the cars interals now, so no flogging it before everything has bedded in nicely.

I think it just depends on the dealer. Obviously my dealer prefers do fit it at the 1000 mile service, although when I went to pick up the car I mentioned that some people were haveing theres fitted before pick up. He said if I wanted it, it could have been done before I picked it up. Never told me that when I ordered it.
Saying that, there is no advantage really in having it on straight away as you have to run them in, in any case. So there is no right or wrong for when there fitted

No 1000mile service?
No PPP?
Lower residuals on resale?
No decent Part Ex. price?
No warm feeling from the UK Dealer you bought from?
God, I'm glad I only buy proper UK cars!! Phew!!

Spoke to my dealer today
apparently the oil used for the first 1000 miles is thinner running in oil.
So you need to keep the revs below 4k. (Ive only crept over this a couple of times.)
Also the dealer says that the PPP though fitted isnt "activated fully" until the 1000 mile service...
Felt pretty quick to me anyway.

Saved nearly £3000.00
Didnt buy to sell so who's worrying about re-sale values (live for today)
Warm fealing from the U.K dealer - You must be joking. He may have been smiling thats because he was taking an extra 3 grand off you !
God, Im glad i bought a UK spec import

I'll definitely second that. Competition is a great thing when buying cars but i guess some people just cant see that.
This anti import nonsense is playing right into the hands of high charging UK dealers. If everyone just went out there and bought UK spec imported motors what would the UK dealers do ?
Would they sit there and go bust ?
Or would they perhaps compete ?.
Not thought of that Pete ?????????

I live in the UK - I support UK dealers and UK businesses!!
Imports are shunned by the trade, public and dealers alike ..... no-one likes a cheap skate
Nah, I'll stick to my Proper UK Impreza, thanks all the same

£3000 cheaper eh?
Lets see whats on offer in the UK Dealers then?
Part Ex. for my car = £9150 (thats about £1500 more than I could expect from a Private Sale)
PPP = £1600 on the WRX
Thats £3100 of benefits ................. why would I buy an Import with all the massive disadvantages????

Youre digging yourself in a bit of a hole mate !!!. The buying British would be nice if we had built the car
Each to there own i suppose but its a very short sighted crusade youre on. I am quite sure the UK subaru sales staff rub there hands together when Mr Lewis walks in the showroom.

I bought on MY01 as an import and i saved over £5k at the time and sold it 2 years later with some mods and lost £1500 in total, so where are the massive advantages of buying a UK car, my local dealer sorted all my servicing and warranty claims out just as quick as UK cars.
Unless the deal is exceptional i wouldnt touch a UK dealer with a dirty stick, buy from the EU and save cash, my car ran a full de-cat which the dealer fitted and then a custom remap (292 BHP) my dealer never once mentioned mods come servicing or warranty claims.
You may as well pull your pants down in the carpark of a main dealers if you buy from them because if you dont they will pull them down for you after you sign for one.
